Restoration of Hilly Bio-diversity through Community Based Bio-resource Management

Objectives :
  • Mass mobilizing for forest and biodiversity conservation; establishing community based management system in entire Dighinala Upazilla
  • Restoring by supporting bio-inputs for creating pilot site conserving location based forest at two adjacent Paras
  • Improving skills of the community masses towards IGA
  • Enhancing capacity building of the individual and Anando- as a community development organization
Progress/ Achievements (as of September 2015)

:
  • Established one well organized CBO (Akjoda and Udjjogi Forest Conservation Samabai Samity)
  • Increased savings attitude of the participants
  • Increased natural regeneration of the community forest
  • Increased water level in the water channel
  • Supported each family to start using Improved Cooking Stoves (ICS)
  • Reduced fuel wood collection from the hill
  • Increased interest level of the participants for conserving the community forest and adopting to other best practices
  • Reduced dependency on the natural forest
  • Increased entrepreneurship of the community people to take different initiative of Income Generating Activities (IGAs) like cow rearing, goat rearing, hog rearing, poultry rearing & vegetable cultivation etc.
