Context:

Arannayk Foundation was established in 2003 to promote activities designed to conserve, maintain, or restore the natural tropical forest and forest biodiversity of Bangladesh under “debt-for-nature-swap provisions made between the governments of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh and the United States. The Foundation has been implementing a wide array of projects aiming at biodiversity conservation, enhancement of ecosystem services, sustainable management of natural resources, climate changes adaptation and resilience building activities, alternative/climate smart livelihoods development, water and sanitation hygiene, and promotion of clean energies to combat climate crisis towards a liveable planet for the generations next.

In consideration of the fact that the country requires a huge number of environmental professionals to tackle the climate crisis, through scaling up of various effective climate actions, and more innovative approaches for doing so across the country in general and in the most climate vulnerable areas in particular, the Arannayk Foundation has initiated a “Young Professional Development Program” to commence soon. Under this programme applications are sought from the interested and eligible individuals as detailed below:

 

 

Eligibility of the Applicants

-        Completed bachelor’s or master’s Degree in the relevant field i.e. Forestry and Environmental Sciences, Digital Marketing/Mass Communication/Business Administration/Accounting and Fine Arts/Film and Media

-        Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate complex and technical information with clarity

-        Having skills of writing articles, blogs, stories are super expected

-        Ability to live and work at the field, specifically at the project sites located at Ukhiya, Coxs Bazar

-        Ability to perform extensive field work.

Compensation and other benefits:

  • A consolidated amount between 20,000 to 25,000 will be paid monthly as compensation depending on the skills set of the selected incumbent.
  • During field work actual expenses for travel and accommodation and food allowances will be paid following the organizational policies and procedures
  • Working Hours: 37.5 Hours/Week from 9 AM to 5 PM each day, 5 days week from Sunday through Thursday.

Job Context

Reversing Environmental Degradation in Africa and Asia (REDAA) is a program that supports research and action in sub-Saharan Africa and South and Southeast Asia by offering grants and facilitating mutual learning between partners. Arannayk Foundation awarded the project “Scaling Up Forest Landscape Restoration in Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh” (01 March 2024 - 30 June 2027). In this project, AF will promote locally led forest landscape restoration activities in Bandarban Sadar, Lama, Thanchi, and Alikadam Upazilas of Bandarban district in collaboration with Tahzingdong and BNKS, using proven models. This project is funded by UK International Development from FCDO and managed by IIED.

Arannayk Foundation is looking for a young, energetic, and skilled incumbent for immediate appointment as an Office Assistant for the REDAA Project. 

The Office Assistant will be responsible for the implementation of all maintenance of the cleaning, safety and security of the office under his/her assigned area.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support for maintaining the security, safety and cleanliness of the office.
  • Pickup and delivery of mail and messages to the project personnel and other mail recipients.
  • Assist in organizing meetings, training, conferences, and workshops and provide support for logistics arrangements.
  • Provide office management support services such as filing, storekeeping, photocopying, printing, banking transactions, communication, paying bills and collecting financial and administrative documents, arranging stationeries, repair, and maintenance of offices, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Assist in organizing field trips for the project staff.
  • Assist in repairing, maintenance, and servicing works of the office equipment and vehicles.
  • Assist in keeping the office equipment, stationery, publications, furniture, and fixtures in safe custody and maintaining their inventory.
  • Assist in maintaining attendance/timekeeping and movement register.
  • Assist in keeping administrative and financial records including documents, vouchers, registers, receipts, etc. in safe custody for submission to AF and to comply with the audit requirements.
  • Assist in entertaining guests and visitors, as and when needed.

Qualification:

  • At least HSC.

      Experience

  • At least one year.

  • Fluency in the local language of CHT is essential for smooth communication with the local community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

a)        Working in a team to collect qualitative and quantitative data through FGDs, KIIs, and face-to-face questionnaire surveys encompassing community conserved forests, and local community people.

b)       Supervise the team of enumerators, as and when assigned to do so.

c)        Collect field data via Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) system using tablet and GPS receiver.

d)       Provide support to the project team in organizing meetings involving local community people and relevant stakeholders.

e)        Collaborate with program, finance, and administrative staff to ensure systems are following donor and AF Management System.

f)          Update and maintain relevant electronic/hardcopy formats and databases of AF as required.

g)        Keep administrative and financial records including documents, vouchers, registers, receipts, etc. related to your activities in your safe custody for submission to AF and to comply with the audit requirements.

h)        Ensure that project achievements, lessons learned, and significant events are adequately recorded and shared with an appropriate audience.

i)          Write and encourage others to prepare blog posts and website content on project activities, events, and learning.

j)          Support the respective team in developing project proposals / concept notes / expressions of interest.

k)        Prepare high-quality reports as required, including quarterly and annual progress reports, research reports, annual work plans, and project completion reports.

l)          Perform any other duties/tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

 Qualification:

      Education

  • Master’s in forestry / environmental science / zoology / fisheries with 1-2 years of field research experience. Fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply.

      Experience

Arannayk Foundation is implementing this PRISTINE Project jointly with two partner organizations namely the Recycle Jar Ecosystem Limited and the Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO).

 

Arannayk Foundation is looking for young, energetic, and skilled incumbents for immediate appointment as a Technical Officer who will be assigned to the PRISTINE Project under the implementing partner Recycle Jar Ecosystem Limited. 

Recycle Jar Ecosystem Ltd, is a carbon project developer company and it is a social good company. Recycle Jar started with a bold but simple vision to inspire people to live more sustainably. We began by partnering with communities to implement single-use plastic for recycling and then added different ways to encourage everyday sustainable choices. Technology might make the world move faster, but it has always been interconnected. We are on a mission to change the social and environmental impact of plastic.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

·       Oversee the field operation of the PRISTINE project of waste management, distributing, recycling, sustainability, and improvement of livelihood of waste pickers.

·       Implementing the project as per PRISTINE policy.

·       Managing and distributing the waste marketplace.

·       Communicating with Companies and Waste traders along with waste pickers.

·       Communicating with our foreign partners/clients

·       Field visits are essential and communicating with multiple stakeholders.

·       Field Monitoring and managing the operation.

·       Reporting to senior management for the projects.

Arannayk Foundation is looking for a young, energetic, and skilled incumbent for an immediate appointment of two Accounts and Admin Officers for the PRISTINE Project, to be based at the Arannayk Foundation field office at Mongla, Bagerhat. The Accounts and Admin Officer will be responsible for the implementation of all financial-related activities in his/her assigned area. Essentially the incumbent should have both managerial and technical skills in the areas of financial activities.

Job Summary

·       Key Duties and Responsibilities

  •         Maintain project accounts and supply chain for the PRISTINE Project in the areas assigned by Arannayk Foundation.
  •     Assist in financial transactions, bookkeeping, and financial reporting using financial/grant management software.
  •     Support in the acquisition and distribution of logistics needed by the project staff at the field level, and at the Waste Management Hubs located at the union/village level of the assigned project areas.
  •     Organizing logistic support for project implementation by the field team and for visiting head office staff, consultants, and visitors from donor agencies and other collaborators.
  •     Provide logistic support to arrange training, meetings, workshops, field visits, etc.
  •     Preparation of quarterly Planned Expenditure (Call Forward) and Financial Reports and timely submission to Arannayk Head Office.
  •     Assisting community-based organizations in the management and bookkeeping activities.
  •     Perform any other relevant tasks assigned by the Project Manager, the Field Coordinator, and other senior staff members.

 Qualification:

      Education

  • Commerce graduate, preferably MBA with Accounting/ Finance major with a minimum of one year of practical/working experience in the relevant field or with any reputed NGOs is required. However, candidates with a very high level of potential with extensive skills and experiences could be waived from academic credentials.

      Skills required:

  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills are a must to have qualified for the successful candidate.
  • Should be a good team player.
  • Strong ability to work flexibly, managing changing and competing priorities.
  • Subject to fulfillment of other criteria as mentioned above, candidates having language skills in the local dialect of Khulna Division areas will be given preference.

Technical Officer (Research, Training and Communication)

Job Context

  • Arannayk Foundation (AF) is a not-for-profit organization devoted to forest and biodiversity conservation in Bangladesh since 2003. From March 2024, it has launched a new project titled “Scaling up Forest Landscape Restoration in Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh” under the Reversing Environmental Degradation in Africa and Asia (REDAA) Program, funded by UK International Development from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and managed by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED). The major activities of the project include scaling up of proven restoration models in five upazilas of Bandarban Hill District (Bandarban Sadar, Lama, Thanchi, Alikadam and Rowangchari) through engagement and capacity building of local communities; participatory action research for development of locally appropriate improved agroforestry models; and facilitation of support and ownership of local authorities and relevant service providing organizations.
  • This position will be based at the project office in Bandarban with frequent field visits to project sites. S/he will be reportable to and be evaluated on her/his performance by the Project Manager and Chief Technical Adviser the Project.
  • The initial duration of the position is one year, which may be extended till the end of the project period (30 June 2027) based on satisfactory performance and availability of project fund. However, if the project is discontinued for any reason, the position shall be abolished.

Job Responsibilities
