Updating Integrated Resource Management Plan (IRMP) of the Sundarbans
Funded by the Bangladesh Forest Department, under its “Protection of Sundarbans Mangrove Forests” Project, Arannayk Foundation, in collaboration with the CEGIS (Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services), has been implementing this project which aims at updating the past IRMP (Integrated Resource Management Plan) for next 10 years considering the existing resources status of the SRF (Sundarbans Reserve Forest) and prepare program for long-term conservation of biodiversity and sustainable resource harvesting.
The project, by the end of its tenure, will develop an overall management plan for Sundarbans Reserve Forest (SRF), which will provide guides and controls for the management of the environmental resources of SRF, conservation of terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity, sustainable land-use in and surround the SRF, development of essential facilities for BFD, and plan for allocation of supportive administration and adequate budgetary resources.
Through this project, the Arannayk Foundation is contributing to achieving SDGs 13 (Climate Action), 14 (Life Below Water), and 15 (Life on land).
