Ecosystem Awareness and Restoration Through Harmony (EARTH)
Funded by the UNDP under the GEF-Small Grant Facilities (channelled through UNOPS—United Nation Office of the Project Services), Arannayk Foundation has been implementing the Ecosystem Awareness and Restoration Through Harmony (EARTH) Project in the Ukhya Upazila under Cox’s Bazar District.
The goal of the project is to enhance community-led conservation of forest biodiversity and selected threatened species by active engagement of communities and youth conservation forums and mitigate human-elephant conflicts in the targeted forest landscape.
The project will
1) enhance capacities of the co-management organization to conserve Sheikh Jamal Inani National Park (SJINP) and adjacent buffer zone;
2) mitigate Human Elephant Conflict (HEC);
3) Conserve selected threatened species by developing and engaging youth conservation forums; and
4) plantation of tree saplings in the homesteads to enrich the biodiversity of the area.
Upon successful completion, the project will contribute to achieving the SDGs 13, 14, 15, and 17 (Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life on Land, Partnerships for the Goals)
